Last night before we went to the camera club, we went to our friend's house and she showed me the latest deals in the catalogue she runs, and I got my eye on a beautiful blue and white willow pattern dinner set and tea set. I showed it to John and he agreed that we could do with a new set, so I am going to order it, it is so nice, consists of 8 porcelain dinner plates, 8 porcelain side plates, 8 porcelain soup bowls, and 8 porcelain mugs, and the tea set has a lovely porcelain teapot, sugar bowl and milk jug, so I think it will look wonderful in our kitchen. I have other willow pattern ornaments that I will put on display with them, I have our plates on a plate rack on the wall, with hooks on to hang the mugs, and I think the ornaments will sit nicely on top of there.I was thinking of putting my nice embroidered table cloth on the dining room table and putting the tea set on there, only problem is, I am afraid in case Scrappy or Jack (not Foxy, she is a good girl) pulls at the cloth and sends the tea set flying! So Im not sure about that. At the moment we have a lovely white and gold dinner and tea set that we bought just after we were married, and I love it, but quite a few plates and cups have been broken and chipped, so the set is now incomplete and looking a little rough, so I am greatly looking forward to getting the willow set, yeah!
It is a lovely sunny day today, so I have the doggies blankets in a boil wash which I shall hang on the line to dry, and later, they are both going in the bath, that will be fun, as they hate the bath. Foxy hates it but puts up with it, but Scrappy, as soon as you leave go of him, he jumps out the bath, covered in soap and gets you soaked, but they need a bath, as after all this rain we have had, and them playing in the garden and getting quite muddy, they are very dirty now.
John and I are going to clean the carpets today with the Vax carpet washer, hopefully it will bring the carpets up like new again.
But first, I need to make a start on the housework, get that done, then we can get on with the rest of the days chores.
When all is done, I shall take a nice afternoon bubble bath, put on clean jimjams, watch the last two episodes of Larkrise To Candleford on dvd, then watch the X Factor on tv, then John and I shall get settled to watch a, hopefully good dvd.
I hope you all have a fab day, whatever your plans may be.
Take Care All.

Good Morning!
My hubby is working today. Not normal for him to work weekends. Doesn't feel like a weekend when he's not here.
My girls & I are meeting a couple of friends for brunch today. Then perhaps we'll head out to the pond for some fun.
I do have some laundry to get done.
Your dishes sound lovely! I would love to keep a set table myself - pretty table cloth with the tea set out. But my girls are constantly doing crafts on the table - I'd be afraid of getting paint on it.
Do your doggies normally pull at the table cloth? Can you put a different one on to train them - an old one? |

Afternoon all. It started out clear and sunny, however thats changing. It kills me to see the dry, sunny weather they're having back home. However.....this time next year.
I've got a couple of loads of laundry done, breakfast cleaned up and some lime and lemon essential oils on the burners through the house. I suppose it will soon be time to put away the florals (I use citrus year round) and get out the Autumn oils like cinammon and nutmeg. I did an inventory of my stock last week and will have to get an order in soon to my favourite supplier.
I'll post some blend suggestions in the Aromatherapy section of the Beauty forum soon. There's some wonderful blends for the Holiday season that are easy and inexpensive to do yourself. And so much nicer (and healthier!) than the commercially made home fragrances.
I'll see if I can pry Kev out for a walk later but other than that, its a quiet day here. Quiet all round. I suppose its partly because its a long weekend and those who can, are taking advantage of this last one before school starts back in what is it? a week?
Anyway, I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! _________________ A Cosy Life

Good Morning all, I'm back at home this weekend then off again tomorrow for another out of town buyback. I wanted to stay home for the one here and was supposed to but thanks to an incompetent supervisor at the school, he only notified my sales rep actually 2 weeks late....now all kinds of problems are happening because of him, actually I think it is the managers fault for not doing his job....Things may be changing next Dec. I hope...
It is a good thing I came home...That dumb woman...H. Fay has dumped so much water it caused a leak in my little storage room on the ceiling and near the lightbulb. I had to flip the breaker switch...My renter would have been clueless and it could have been so serious. In the greater scheme of things though, I'm fortunate that is all it was. So many people have been flooded out around here....How awful. It is supposed to rain today again too, I wish it wouldn't.
Today is my son s 31 birthday..hard to believe.....I really don't think anything is happening with him. He prefers to make his own arrangements for his birthday and at that age he should. I plan on doing some cleaning, and I think I can pick up my new glasses today....yeah and laundry and such....
It's nice to be back home and chatting with y'all....
Take care everyone... _________________ Barbara |

Heya Barb! Things sound a bit rough for you lately. Hope it improves soon. And I'm so glad to hear you weren't badly affected by Fay.
And Happy Birthday to your son! Do you still bake him a birthday cake? _________________ A Cosy Life

Debbie, when I have the table cloth on, Jack and Scrappy do tend to pull at it, but I have not had it on for a while as I was sick of picking it up from the floor all the time, you never know, perhaps now that puppy is abit older, he will of got out of the pulling habit?
Ali, I do love essential oils but am very dubious about burning them, as last year I had the oil burner on, and it exploded and got oil all over the walls, result , we had to re-decorate, so that oil cost us a fair bit, so I have not burnt any oils since then, but in the winter, I do like to put a few drops on cotton wool and put them on the radiators, so that when the heating is on, the house smells incredible.
Barb, Im pleased to hear you got home safely. Sorry to hear about the leak you had, good job you came home when you did!
Our internet connection has been off for about an hour, it has just came back on, but at least in that hour, instead of sitting on my laptop, I have got the housework done, and 2 loads of washing. John and I are going to make a start on the carpets when we have finished our cuppa's. |

Try essential oil granules for your burner (burn slower and last longer) or switch to an electric burner which is much less hot than the usual candle burners Mel. _________________ A Cosy Life
