I really enjoyed this film too, though I found some parts of it hard to watch. But that's Life sometimes isn't it, not always pleasant. Loved the ending.
I've been on the look out for the book its based on. _________________ A Cosy Life

| My mam has the book, she picked it up in a charity shop, if she has finished with it, I could always ask her if I can post it to you. My mam does not read much, hardly at all, so Im sure she would'nt mind. |

| I love this movie too. Got to see the broadway musical as well last January. I wasn't sure how it would translate from the book and movie but it was wonderful. The music and the singing was phenomenal. One of the singers from Destiny's Child played the role of Shug Avery. I'd highly recommend seeing it if you can! |

| I would love to see the musical, but I did not even know that there was a broadway musical of it until I read your post, so it must never of been in Engalnd, but I will certainly keep my eyes and ears open for it. Im not a huge fan of musicals, but Im sure this, live on stage, would be sensational. |

D'you know I can't for the life of me see The Colour Purple as a musical. An opera maybe. Opera does tragedy well, and there's loads of that in the movie. Would be interesting to see. _________________ A Cosy Life

Ali I couldn't fathom it as a musical either. But a lot of the music is southern gospel/jazz based so it worked well. We were all apprehensive but afterward greatly pleased and entertained. |

This movie makes me cry so hard! Especially the part where the sisters are separated. The one is walking down the road and the other is standing on the porch - they're doing the hand game as the one is walking away. Oh! The tears!
