Good Morning everyone. Well, the seasons are certainly changing here in Scotland. Is it classed as Autumn now, or the 22nd (Autumn equinox)?
Anyway, there's a definite crisp nip in the air, and the rooftops opposite have a faint dusting of frost. I love it. Other half thinks I'm a bit strange because I like this time of year with the dark nights etc. It's a beautiful sunny morning, just right for a walk in the park.
Must start looking at winter coats, boots etc - I much prefer winter clothes- I think they're more stylish (and I can cover all the bits I don't like, lol).
Well, I've got work to do until midday, then who knows, I might actually force myself to start writing something.
Hope you all have a lovely day,
Donna x

I too adore the winter months, the dark nights, the freezing cold weather, waking up and it is still pitch black on a morning, I have always preferred the winter months, and I too prefer winter clothes, I love getting all wrapped up and snug before braving the icy weather outside, and like you Donna, I love been able to cover up all the bits I don't like, and winter clothes are perfect for that.
It is still summery weather here, sunshine and blue skies, quite warm, so I shall get the washing hung out soon. It normally starts coming in cold round about the middle of October, but with the unpredictable, crazy weather we are having, the cold weather may be here sooner than expected, oh I do hope so!
John is out on a photo shoot with a boxer at a gym, so when I have drank my cuppa and finished off on here I will get on with the housework then tackle the huge pile of ironing.
My throat feels like it is closing, it has done since yesterday and it is really getting on my nerves, I have a headache, again, I wonder if I'm coming down with something, there is supposed to be a few bugs going around.
Well, have a good day ladies.
Take Care All. |

Autumn is my favorite season as well. I love the cool crisp days. (We've had none yet - it's been in the 90's F) The changing of the leaves.... oh! I cannot wait.
I've been away from the computer all weekend long. It was a holiday of sorts here in the US. Hubby was home and we relaxed all weekend long. It was bliss! Now back to work.
After dropping my girls at school I'm headed to the natural history museum with my sister for a day of fun.
Have a great day!! |

I'm pleased you enjoyed your weekend Debbie, and I hope you enjoy your day at the natural history museum with your sister.
John is home now, I have done the housework and now I am making a start on the ironing.
Tonight, John and I are going with my dad to watch his band, Cirkus, rehearse and for John to do a photo shoot with them. I am really excited, for although I have watched my dad play the guitar in the house, and have listened to the Cirkus One album (which they recorded in the 70's) so many times, and each time I listen I think how amazing my dad is, I have never seen him on stage, as he packed the band in when I was about 7 yrs old, and they are only now reforming, so it will be great to see my dad up on stage tonight, even if it is only a rehearsal. I will take the camcorder. We will be going to watch them gig when they start touring, which should be fairly soon.
Right, on with the ironing! |

The 22nd is indeed the Autumnal Equinox. The new Moon in September is known as the Fruit Moon or Harvest Moon too, if anyone's interested. As part of my Pumpkins on the Vine blog, I've looked up the folklore names for the Moon as it applies to the seasonal changes.
I've updated both my blogs. Wrapped Kevan's birthday gifts (arrived promptly this morning after only ordering them yesterday!) and have a pot of chicken cooking on the stove. I'm still scratching my head over a menu for the month. We're on a really short budget this month so I have to get max value for money. I don't want to order groceries until I know exactly what we need. I wish I had one of the old cookbooks of my mother's. It was an English one, with weekly menus for every Season. It would be such a help right now. I must send a message to my brother to see if he knows if we still have Mom's old books or not.
Got a doctor appointment later this afternoon. I developed a weird rash on both shins about a month or so ago. No idea how I got it. I've eliminated all the usual suspects. But its not getting better and its starting to wake me up at night with severe itching. So time to get it checked as my home remedies aren't doing anything to improve it.
It started out sunny this morning, but is trying to revert to type ie: cloudy and wet, for the afternoon.
Have a better one ladies. _________________ A Cosy Life

The fruit moon or harvest moon eh, very interesting, I will take a look on your blogs in a while Ali.
What did you buy Kev for his birthday, or is it a secret?
The price of everything is going up, and it cost you twice as much to get your weekly shopping in compared to this time last year. We are just making do with what we have, and will buy things as and when we need them, I cant wait to have a veg patch in our garden, I think it will come in handy with the cost of living going up so much!
I do hope you are all right Ali, I wonder what can be causing the rash? Perhaps you have had an allergic reaction to something, have you changed your washing powder or clothes conditioner lately? I hope all goes well for you and you soon get it sorted.
My head is killing me, I might have a nap this afternoon before we go out if I have the time. |

Nah, not doing or using anything different. Beats me what it is. It seems to improve when I take an allergy tablet, but I'm not 100% sure of that. And regardless the tablets aren't healing the rash, hence getting me to the doc. I have enough trouble getting a decent night's sleep these days without something else disturbing it.
I got Kevan a graphic novel he wanted (he has an extensive collection of them) and a Mr Potato Head as Spider Man or Spider Spud as its called. Yes, my husband is a big kid. I got him Darth Tater last year.
I don't know what's with the men in my life. My son is nearly 26 and collects Transformers. I had thought he'd grown out of them when he was 12.
You seem to have a lot of headaches Mel. Have you ever been seen about them? _________________ A Cosy Life

Let us know if all is ok with you when you return form the doctors.
Your presents for Kev sound great, so funny. I always find it hard to buy for John.
I have been to see about my headche's and they told me nothing, so I just have to put up with them. To be honest I think it is because I find it hard to sleep, and because I read so much that I get them, that and stress. |

Hello all, just a quick drop in.
Debbie - have a great day at the Natural History Museum
Melanie - that's great that your Dad has started his band again, enjoy the gig
Ali - your blog's very interesting. I think it's safe to say we're all fans of Autumn here. I'd love to see the foliage and autumn colours of New England and Canada. Hope you find out what the rash is.
The slow cooker's out of the cupboard and dusted off - it's time to think about soups and stews. I'm also thinking of getting a breadmaker, but there are so many out there- anyone got any recommendations?
Bye for now,

Donna, we have the Morphy Richards Fast Bake bread machine and it is excellent, so easy to use and it bakes delicious bread, it also does cakes and jam. There is nothing like the smell of bread baking, so wonderful.
I am almost finished the ironing now, thank Heavens, I am so tired, cant wait for bed time, I am such a sleepy head!
