Yesterday and today I have bought 2 Mary E Pearce omnibuses, and I cant wait for them to get delivered.

They are

Cast A Long Shadow/Two Farms/Polsinney Harbour (omnibus volume 1)

Apple Tree Lean Down/Jack Mercybright/The Sorrowing Wind (omnibus volume 2)

I have heard a lot of praise for Mary E Pearce, she writes about the countryside, so I am looking forward to reading them.

Yesterday I bought 3 Billy Hopkin books
Our Kid
High Hopes, which are both semi-autobiographical books about the authors life, growing up in the Manchester slums, then going to London to train as a teacher, and
Kates Life, which again is a semi-autobiographical account of his mothers life, been taking into the workhouse as a child, then going into service.

They are set out like a novel, but are accounts of the authors and his mothers life. I have read lots of excellent reviews on these books, so they should be wonderful reads, of a bygone era.
